Energy Assessments, Energy Reports
An Energy Assessment assesses and compares the options for complying with targets for new build projects set by the National Planning Policy Framework and local plan policies. It covers construction methods, CO₂ savings, renewable technology, overheating criteria, urban greening, whole life carbon, circular economy and national water standards. It identifies the proposed energy and sustainability strategy for a project to ensure compliance with the current building regulations, council guidelines and the National Plan. For major developments a pre-demolitions may also be required.
Most councils now require energy reports for any new build or significant extension. The report will need to examine how the build will comply with current building regulations and local carbon targets and requirements in terms of renewable technology.
