BREEAM Assessments
A BREEAM assessment uses recognised measures of performance, which are set against established benchmarks, to evaluate a building’s specification, design, construction and use. The measures used represent a broad range of categories and criteria from energy to ecology.

Sustainability Reports & Consultancy
EAL Consult carry out sustainability consultancy working closely for and with architects, chief compliance officers and energy managers. Our work includes advising on energy efficiency, and renewable and building regulation compliance. It is advantageous to assess the various options at the design stage.

SBEM Calculations
The SBEM calculates the monthly carbon dioxide emissions and energy used by a building given its construction, geometry, use, lighting equipment and HVAC. SBEM ratings are scored from a scale of 1-100, with 1 being the worst and 100 being a zero usage of energy.

SAP Calculations
SAP is the Government’s ‘Standard Assessment Procedure’ for Energy Rating of Dwellings. SAP 2012 is adopted by government as part of the UK national methodology for calculation of the energy performance of buildings. It is used to demonstrate compliance with building regulations for dwellings-Part L.

Thermal Bridging / y-value
Thermal Bridging (Psi) also known as a Y Value or Ψ Values was introduced to new Part L 2014 Building Regulations for new buildings. It focuses on the heat loss of the buildings thermal bridge junctions and is an essential element of the SAP calculations. These calculations can be the difference in the Pass or Fail of your SAPs.

Daylight Calculations
The daylight calculations are carried out to determine the capability of natural light that is predicted to enter a room. When designing a building there are many daylight factors to consider to increase the amount of available light. Such as the size of the opening, room depth and view of the sky.

LEED Assessments
We are very proud to introduce our new international LEED assessment department lead by a well-established team of engineers whose international expertise has benefited state of the art universities and well known household names such as Decathlon.

Energy Audit
EAL Consult carries out energy audits including a full analysis of a building’s fabric and energy consumption, including energy monitoring. All audits include full SBEM calculations, with carbon footprint and recommendations. An Energy Audit will consist of an evaluation of the building’s thermal elements.

Non-Domestic EPC
An EPC is an Energy Performance Certificate, which gives information on how to make your home more energy efficient and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. All homes bought, sold or rented require an EPC. An energy performance certificate is now legally required for all properties to be sold or let in the UK.

Domestic EPC
An Energy Performance Certificate provides an energy rating for a building which is based on the performance potential of that building. Services such as lighting, heating and ventilation are taken into account as well as the way in which these services are controlled.

Code for Sustainable Homes
The CSH is a form of environmental assessment applicable to new build residential projects. It assesses the building on a number of environmental factors. The building is scored against each principle with an overall level between 1 and 6 given at the end of the assessment.
